Style Spotlight: Proper Hotels
Proper Hotels and Residences began with the premise that every city needs a Proper place to stay. Their hotels and residences offer bold explorations of uncommon luxury, from the elevated, unconventional interiors by Kelly Wearstler, the inspired collaborations with the city’s best and most innovative culinary and wellness partners, and the sense of immersion within the local culture.
Proper’s mission statement is to “deliver culturally relevant and enriching experiences through iconic design, impeccable service, overthought details, and occasional pampering.” Their unique luxury brand is making itself known in vibrant neighborhoods across the country, aiming to serve as spirited hubs for travelers and locals alike.
We are excited to be a part of the Proper journey, as they expand their list of properties.
Santa Monica Proper marries the elevated design of Kelly Wearstler with a 1920’s era- landmark building and new contemporary architecture. The hotel embodies the relaxed sophistication of the California lifestyle, with interiors inspired by the colors and textures of the neighboring coastline.
With city lights and vintage brick as a backdrop, Proper re-imagines and updates an historic Broadway Corridor landmark into a destination hotel. Here, the creative vision of Kelly Wearstler seamlessly blends past and present with compelling design, vintage influence and local art.
Housed in a landmarked, Beaux-Arts era, flatiron building, San Francisco Proper adds unexpected luxury and exuberance to the heart of Mid-Market, just minutes from Union Square, SoMa, Hayes Valley and the Central Market-Civic Center. With rooms and suites designed by Kelly Wearstler, three inspired settings for meals or a cocktail, incredible rooftop views and impeccable service and amenities.
Proper’s sister property, the Hotel June, is a private enclave of Mid-century bungalows that once served as historic hideaways for wayfaring writers, musicians, and artists on iconic Point Dume. Hotel June is a modern homage to the spirit of historic Malibu, an entirely one-of-a-kind property that offers the best of both worlds: On the iconic Pacific Coast Highway, just a short drive to the beach…and a private, peaceful retreat for escaping it all.
We look forward to working with Kelly Wearstler and Proper Hotels on future projects, as they continue to grow their brand.
