Pink Palace Story

Image of umbrellas at Montauk Yacht Club

The morning shadows stretch across the legendary pool deck as our design team surveys the Pink Palace in all its storied glory. For over a century, The Beverly Hills Hotel has been Hollywood’s most treasured retreat, where stars escape to palm-lined privacy and the kind of service that never asks questions. Now, as they plan new poolside umbrellas, the challenge becomes clear: how do you enhance perfection without disturbing the magic?

The hotel’s request seems deceptively simple—create custom Paseo umbrellas that honor the property’s iconic banana leaf motif. But this isn’t just about matching a pattern; it’s about preserving the visual language that has welcomed everyone from Elizabeth Taylor to today’s A-listers. The banana leaf design threads through the property like a signature, appearing in unexpected places, creating the cohesive tropical sophistication that makes the Pink Palace feel both glamorous and surprisingly intimate.

Our team becomes detective, sourcing fabric vendors and securing samples until we find the perfect match for the existing motif. Each custom luxury outdoor umbrella must feel like it has always belonged here, crafted with powder-coated aluminum frames that can withstand California sun while maintaining the elegance that pool cabana conversations demand. The process requires the kind of meticulous attention to detail that the hotel’s legendary guests expect—and deserve.

Months later, the new umbrellas take their place among the palm trees, and the poolside scene feels complete. Guests settle into their familiar rhythms—morning swims, afternoon screenplay readings, sunset cocktails that stretch into evening strategy sessions. The umbrellas don’t announce themselves; they simply enhance what was already there, providing shade for the conversations that shape careers and the quiet moments that restore souls.

The most successful design interventions are the ones that feel inevitable, as if they were always meant to be exactly where they are.
